Spain wins 2010 EURO

Spain is yet again the Champions in Europe!  The Spaniards won their third straight Euro and fifth in total.  The dominance and poise of the Spanish team was evident all through the tournament and despite setbacks such as the penalty shootout disgrace by the referees against Russia in the Quarterfinals, Venancio Lopez and his players showed to all who rules futsal in Europe.

The Semifinals were an easy task for Spain overcoming the Czech Republic 1-8, while Azerbaijan and Portugal battled all the way to penalty kicks with Portugal standing victorious 5-3.  The Czech republic won third place, their best ever positioning in the tournament, beating Azerbaijan 5-3.  In the Final, Spain had to work hard to overcome the feisty and passionate Portuguese team which stood their ground and gave a dramatic finale scoring twice  in the end to bring the game to a one goal difference and the crowd holding their breath.  Joel and Goncalo tallied one each at the 37th and 38th minute before Daniel set things straight with the fatal goal at the 39th min.  Kike and Lin, along with Javi and Fernandao stood out of the almost perfect performance of the Spanish team, while Venancio Lopez proved with his coaching that he is one of the best in the world.
